Danger Girl - It is Finished!!

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 7, 2008, 10:12 PM
Happy TEN year anniversary Danger Girl!

In March of 1998 a teenage boy discovered the art work of J. Scott Campbell :iconj-scott-campbell:
A fan was made.

Danger Girl was created, written, and drawn by JSC. That artistic style is so distinct that JSC is now well known for it. This comic book lets Charlie's Angels collide with James Bond. What teenager doesn't like action, hot girls, and comics!? Even has some romance, spies, double crosses, all sorts of stuff.
Realizing that the kind of women he drew didn't really exist in real life didn't stop me from enjoying a non stop action, heart pounding story. Seriously, car chases and everything.

Though the final issue wasn't produced until 4 years later in Feb 2001 it still had a great fan following. Still does. A few more issues were produced after that, not by J.S.C. Though he did some cover work.

My dA goal this year is to reproduce 7 Covers of the Danger Girl comic. There are multiple covers to most issues, I'm only going to do one of them.

I decided to make the project consistent by having the same model for each character. So I went back and modified one or two covers to reflect that.

Abbey Chase - :iconbobbistock:
Natalia Kassle - Ashka @ :iconlisa-juliette:
Sydney Savage - :iconmoniquedb-stock:

Cover 1: cover1
Cover 2b: cover2b
Cover 3c: cover3c
Cover 4b: cover4b
Cover 5: cover5
Cover 6a: cover6a
Cover 7: cover7

The wonderful world of exploring

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 19, 2008, 7:56 AM
So I was checking out the gallery of one of my favorite robot manipulators :iconnibigot: after seeing his most recent random post. Which I think is pretty kewl.

And here is a work or two of his that I also enjoy.

So I got around to checking out his favs. I like his work, and found out that I like his favs too.
So here is a bit of my travels this morning...

Update

Journal Entry: Fri May 30, 2008, 9:52 PM
So I've gone with out for a month or so with no subscription. Just had to feed the addiction and get one again. Nice to see comments and thumbnails of new images.

The traffic to the page is nice to see. That Fella Sparta thing was a big hit and keeps getting favorited. I had fun making it and it's popular by others, which makes me feel good. That's kewl.

So what's the deal with journals? I'm trying to understand the CSS part, and then what to do with the header and such.
Wouldn't even mind putting my watchers icons in my footer or something, but there has to be an easier way than just typing it all in, right?
So many FAQs to browse, I'll keep putting it off until the creativity dries up again.

Thanks for watching, critiqing, and other comments.

Gas Prices and Intelligent Design (unrelated)

Journal Entry: Sun May 4, 2008, 8:41 PM
Something I came about this evening:

According to theU.S. Department of Energy, here's an approximation of where each dollar you spend on gas goes:

Taxes: 12 cents
Distribution and Marketing: 8 cents
Refining: 8 cents
Crude oil: 72 cents

Found over at HowStuffWorks.com

On another note:
I just watched Ben Stein's "Expelled: No Intelligence allowed"
It was a great movie that makes you think after watching a bunch of other big thinkers. I would recommend you see it. Though keep in mind it is more of a documentary form of Why Intelligent design is tabu in scientific circles.

RIP Gary Gygax

Journal Entry: Sat Mar 8, 2008, 7:07 AM
I awake this morning to headlines:
"Dungeons & Dragons co-creator dies at 69"
"Gary Gygax, 'Father of D&D,' Dies at 69 "
"Farewell, Dungeon Master!"
"Gary Gygax invented a fantasy game for real-life friends"

Gary Gygax is to the Gaming industry like Stan Lee to the comic industry, Bill Gates to Computing, or George Lucas to Star Wars. He designed the core rules (1974) that spawned many other roleplaying game companies. Though the fantasy setting was around before his time (e.i. Lord of the Rings - 1954) He took table top war gaming and expanded it into the realm of roleplaying. Encouraging players to hop into the worlds they played in. Like my mother called it, pretend for grownups. Though he created a set of rules that gave us the ability to simulate complex scenarios, he also created a world of moral ambiguity and false gods. I mourn for his loss of life, I mourn more for his eternal destination. Thanks for inspiring so many gaming enthusiasts you will be missed.

Mr. Gygax passed away Tuesday morning (March 4th 2008)at his home in Lake Geneva. His influence in gaming lives on.
